Ravindra Jadeja achieved notable success against South Africa's middle order by claiming four wickets, leaving the team at 93/7 after 35 overs at the close of Day 2, with a lead of 63 runs. Kuldeep Yadav also contributed by taking two wickets, dismissing Ryan Rickelton and Marco Jansen. Simon Harmer effectively dismantled India's batting lineup, securing four wickets and bowling them out for 189; however, the hosts maintained a 30-run lead from their first innings. India's momentum faced challenges as Rishabh Pant and KL Rahul were dismissed, and Shubman Gill exited the field due to a neck injury. South Africa was dismissed for 159 in their first innings and faced challenges with partnerships and maintaining rhythm as the pitch offered turn early on. The team is currently relying on their lower order to extend the lead to a more defendable level.
