Kolkata : A total of 7,08,16,621 voters names appeared in the draft electoral roll released by Election Commission on Tuesday after the first round of special intensive revision (SIR) in Bengal. A separate list of ASD (absent, shifted or dead/duplicate) voters with 58.2 lakh names has also been released. Among the 7-crore who feature on the draft roll, EC has identified close to 1.7 crore voters who have “logical discrepancies” in their enumeration forms including mismatch in gender or father’s name, unexplained age differences with a parent or grandparent. Many of them are likely to be called for hearing. There are also close to 32 lakh “unmapped” voters who have not provided any linkage in the enumeration forms, and will be mandatorily called for hearing before an ERO/AERO. Hearing process is likely to start after seven days.
