“Mamata Banerjee Is the Head of All Criminals”: Victim’s Mother Makes Explosive Allegations in RG Kar Case

The RG Kar controversy has once again triggered sharp political reactions throughout West Bengal following the suspension of three senior police officers over alleged lapses in the investigation of the RG Kar Medical College rape and murder case. The latest storm was triggered after the victim’s mother, Ratna Debnath, launched a direct attack on former Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee.

Speaking to reporters on Friday, Debnath alleged that several influential individuals were involved in the cover-up of her daughter’s death. “There are many criminals, and the head of all of them is Mamata Banerjee. If she is arrested and sent to jail, the names of all the criminals will come out,” she claimed.

Ratna Debnath, who was recently elected as a BJP MLA from the Panihati Assembly constituency in West Bengal, further alleged that not only the college administration but also sections of the former state administration were connected to the incident. According to her, several individuals who reportedly had dinner with her daughter on the night of the crime have still not been questioned by investigators.

She also questioned why only the former principal of RG Kar Medical College remains behind bars while others allegedly linked to the case have escaped scrutiny. Debnath named Mamata Banerjee and former Health Secretary Narayan Swaroop Nigam among those she believes should be investigated.

Meanwhile, the West Bengal government on Friday suspended three senior police officials over alleged negligence in the handling of the case. The suspended officers include former Kolkata Police Commissioner Vineet Goyal, former Deputy Commissioner Indira Mukherjee, and Abhishek Gupta.

Current Leader of Opposition Suvendu Adhikari alleged that the investigation suffered from serious procedural lapses and even claimed that attempts were made to bribe the victim’s family.

The controversy has once again intensified political tensions across West Bengal, with opposition parties demanding a transparent and impartial investigation while the ruling party has yet to issue an official response.
